History of Neo-Pagan Druidism, Requirement 4e

Of the following names, identify and explain the importance each has had in Neopagan history and/or the magical revival (minimum 100 words for each): Starhawk

Starhawk:

Starhawk's biggest influence on Neo-Paganism is her book, The Spiral Dance: A Rebirth of the Ancient Religion of the Great Goddess. The book has both tenth anniversary and twentieth anniversary editions out (and I imagine a thirtieth anniversary edition is forthcoming shortly), and has been translated into a number of different languages. The primary reasons for the success of this book are the elevation of women to special status within the community, a strong ecological focus, and a firm set of definitions that help people who have not found a term for their religion define it (the general "every woman a witch" sentiment).

Starhawk's current contributions to the Neo-Pagan movement (aside from the continued success of her books, which should not be underestimated) include numerous high-profile arrests at social protests and her sometimes angry comments about who can call themselves "Pagan" or "Witch". It has been noted that she keeps Paganism on the fringe.
