Nature Awareness, Requirement 12

Based on your research for Questions 1 above, describe what sort of offering would be appropriate to make to the Nature Spirits in your area, and what would be an appropriate way to make such an offering and why. Discuss the potential ecological consequences of making this offering and ways to modify the offering in order to minimize any negative environmental impact. (minimum 100 words)

In general, the nature spirits of the IE world were not always something you would wish to offer to. Quite often, they could be better described as outdwellers than indwellers. Still, in our modern interpretation and revalorization of these beings, we have made them into things that we worship. Our offerings to them are likely to be small shiny objects, bird seed, and various other biodegradable offerings. In general, it is important to make these offerings either edible or biodegradable, though edible ones should be carefully chosen to ensure that they are edible not only to humans, but also to animals. Chocolate, for instance, is a horrible offering to the nature spirits, because although nearly all animals like it, it is horrible for them to eat.
