Liturgy Writing 2, Requirement 2a
Write three prayers, one each for three of the following occasions (no minimum word count):
- a piacular offering
- lighting a sacrificial fire
- a meal blessing
- praise to accompany an offering
- remembering a recently-passed ancestor
- a blessing to end a ritual
A Prayer for Lighting a Sacrificial Fire
This prayer was written as part of the ADF Order of the Crane work, after a description one of our members posted of his meeting with the Crane.
The Crane anchors this place:
one foot holds tight the land,
one foot plumbs deep the sea,
his eye cast to the sky.
Here now at the center
where all the realms do meet
a single spark burns bright:
the fire is kindled.
Garanus, guard this flame:
it is my heart and soul,
my light and my bright way.
Draw forth its flame in me.
